How do I set up a Referral or Affiliate program?

If you want to offer a referral or affiliate link system, go to the Marketing page > Referrals tab, and click on the Referrals Settings button.

 

In the window, check the "Enable Referrals" checkbox to activate Referrals. Once enabled, the rest of the Referral settings will be displayed.

Once active, your customers will have the ability to refer other customers to you and get rewarded based on the settings and amount you choose. 

Kickback Type

• Store Credit: Customers receive referral credits as store credit, which they can use for any purchases.

• Cash: Customers cannot use their referral credits for store purchases. Instead, you will be responsible for providing them with the credit directly (GoPrep cannot send credit to their card or bank accounts). Once you pay a customer, you can settle their balance on the Referrals tab.
  
  

Frequency

Choose the frequency and conditions in which your affiliates get rewarded.

• All Orders With Link/Coupon: this applies the reward only on orders in which a referral link or linked coupon was used. 

• First Order Only: this applies the reward only on the first order of a new customer they referred.

• All orders: this applies the reward on all orders that were created by a referred customer, regardless if they use the referral link or not.

Amount

Choose flat for the referring customer to receive a flat amount per order no matter the amount of the order. Choose percent for the referring customer to receive a percentage of the order amount.

Coupons Only

Enable this if you want to allow users to gain referral credit only through a linked coupon, and not by sharing their referral link.

Link Coupons To Referrals

Here you can assign one of your existing coupons to a referral user. If you create a unique coupon code for a specific affiliate or company, and a customer uses that code, the referral bonus will be applied to the affiliate. This provides an alternative to affiliates sharing their referral URL — they can distribute their unique coupon code, which you provide, as an incentive for customers to place orders.

To link a coupon to a referral, first create the coupon under the Marketing page > Coupons tab (see this article for more details on coupons). Then, go to your Referral settings, find the coupon under "Link Coupons to Referrals," click the dropdown next to it, and select the customer. Click Save when you're done.

Referred Customer Discount

By default, customers who place an order using a referral link do not automatically receive any benefit or discount. Only the referring customer receives referral credit based on your Referral settings.

However, at the bottom of the Referral Settings window, you will also find the Referred Customer Discount option. This allows you to automatically apply a hidden coupon discount to customers who place an order using a referral link.

This is a great way to encourage new customers to place their first order, since both the referring customer and the referred customer receive a benefit.

Once enabled, any customer visiting your store through a referral link will automatically receive the discount you configure on the Checkout page, without needing to manually enter a coupon code.
