Yes! You can allow customers to replace ingredients from a base meal using components.
How it works
When setting up a component, you need to add both:
- The ingredient you want to remove from the base meal
- The ingredient you want to add as a replacement
To do this, you will:
- Go to your item
- Navigate to the Variations > Components section
-
Click Adjust under the Ingredients column to add the ingredients
When adding ingredients to the component:
- Add the same ingredient that exists in the base meal (this is the one you want to replace)
- Add the new ingredient that will replace it
To make sure you are selecting the exact same ingredient from the base meal, you can use the “Add Existing” option.
Once both ingredients are added:
- You will see a “Subtract” checkbox next to each ingredient
- Check the Subtract box on the ingredient you want to remove from the base meal
The system will then understand that when this option is selected, it should remove that ingredient and replace it with the new one.
You do not need to match or worry about the quantity for the removed ingredient. The important part is marking it as Subtract.
Save your changes, and you're all set.
In the example below, the customer selects the Turkey option. As a result, the original chicken breast ingredient is removed and the new turkey ingredient is added automatically.
