How to add Ingredients to my Items/Meals? – GoPrep Help Desk

First, open an item by double-clicking it or hitting the View button () and go to the Ingredients tab.

Nutrition Facts are created when ingredients are added. GoPrep connects with the Nutritionix API to pull in all the relevant data and generate your nutrition labels.

There are 4 ways you can enter ingredients:

Type in Ingredients
Search Ingredients
Add Existing Ingredients
Add Custom Ingredient

Type in Ingredients

Here you just need to type the ingredients that make up the meal, including measurements such as tsp, tbsp, cup, gram, oz, etc. Hit Enter after each ingredient or separate each ingredient by a comma.

This is an example of a valid list of ingredients:

100 g spinach
1 tsp butter
1 slice cheese

Afterward, click the Add () button.

Search Ingredients

When you enter an ingredient into the system using the Type in Ingredients tab, GoPrep just tries to choose the best option for you. If that amount seems off to you, you can go to the second tab on the Ingredients window, to Search Ingredients.

Simply enter the name of the ingredient in the text box, and a list will be pulled from the database at Nutritionix. Choose the desired ingredient, add the quantity and unit, and finally click the Add button.

Add Custom Ingredient

If you were not able to find the ingredient you're looking for, or none of the choices are accurate (rare but can happen), then you can enter a Custom Ingredient. This allows you to set the exact nutritional information for a custom-made ingredient.

Enter the name, quantity, unit, and nutritional information. After you're done, click the Add button.

Add Existing Ingredients

This is similar to the Search Ingredients tab, but instead, you can add ingredients that you've already saved in other items. This is particularly helpful if you've created custom ingredients.

Enter Nutrition Directly

If you already have the nutritional info and don't want to use Nutritionix to generate it, you can enter the data directly in the Enter Nutrition Directly tab.

Ingredients for Variations

With the base meal/item set up, you can then move on to the Variations such as different sizes or components.
